Nur’s area of practice includes intellectual property and corporate law. Her work in intellectual property includes the registration and renewal of both patent and trademark as well as advising on trademark enforcement. Nur has an extensive and varied corporate practice ranging from advising companies and businesses in corporate and commercial law, drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, as well as providing Brunei regulatory advice in a number of areas including anti-competition, employment, immigration/labour, employment, data protection and telecommunications.
Nur is an active member of the Brunei Bar and is currently the President of the Brunei Law Society where she has previously served as a Council Member and Vice-President. As a member of the Law Society Council, Nur has actively represented the Law Society in meetings with the judiciary and stakeholder engagements. Nur has also acted as chair for hearings of the Insolvency Order, 2016 and the Legal Profession Order, 2006 (Disciplinary Proceedings). She has also been invited to speak on intellectual property in Brunei at events hosted by the Brunei Intellectual Property In past and has contributed articles for the Japan Patent Office’s Global Intellectual Property Database project.
Between 2017 – 2019, Nur was employed as in-house Legal Counsel for Standard Chartered Bank, Brunei Branch, where she advised the Bank on various legal matters including contract negotiation, litigation, and the conduct of regulatory inquiries. She played a key role in ensuring the swift and orderly transition of the business from Standard Chartered Bank to Baiduri Bank, Hong Kong, and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Ltd at the time of its winding-up in Brunei.
